Javor, treated in the volume as Rrezja (Javori), lies about 19 km north of Theranda and is a dispersed hill-and-mountain settlement. Between Javor, Lushta and Kleçka there are traces of older settlements and a fortress, including surviving walls and the locality known as Gropa e Kalasë.
An Ottoman register from 1530 records the settlement with nine households, while late-19th-century yearbooks use the name Javor. After the expulsion of Albanians from the Leskovac area in 1878, an Albanian muhajir family settled here. In 1936 the agrarian authorities placed five Slavic colonist families in the village.
In 1913 Serbian forces burned 40 of the village's 60 houses and killed three residents. During 1998–99 almost the entire settlement was burned; around 66 buildings, including the school, were destroyed. Residents were forcibly driven out on 25 August 1998 and took refuge in the mountains or in neighbouring villages.
