Vërbicë e Kmetocit, treated in the volume as Urbishti i Kmetocit (Verbica e Kmetocit), lies about 7–8 km northeast of Gjilan. Pottery, a sword found in a burial and the foundations of an old church have been recorded in its territory, together with local traditions about the site.
The settlement is mentioned in a charter from 1381, while a 1498 register records Vrbiç with 19 household heads. Albanian muhajir families settled here after 1877–78. In 1929, 17 Albanian families left, and Serbian and Montenegrin colonist families were settled on their land.
At the beginning of 1999 there were 41 Albanian houses and seven Serbian-Montenegrin houses. Twenty-eight houses were burned during the war.
