Siparunti (Zahaqi)

Municipality Peja

Siparunti (Zahaqi) is in the municipality of Peja. A historical document from 1318 mentions the settlement under the form Zahak. An Ottoman register from 1485 documents the settlement.

A historical document from 1689 mentions the settlement under the form Suhaq. A later register from 1893 documents the settlement. For 1998–99, the source documents killings by Serbian forces. Archaeological traces mentioned in the study include building foundations. The settlement changed location over time; its earlier site is known as Selishtë.
