Shillovë lies about 2 km east of Gjilan and is a compact lowland settlement. House foundations and old burial grounds have been identified in its territory. The 1498 register of the Novo Brdo district records 31 household heads, while the 1566–74 register lists 20 households.
After the expulsion of Albanians from the Sanjak of Niš in 1877–78, a separate Muhajir neighbourhood of Shillovë developed in the area. Some families later migrated to Turkey.
In 1999 the settlement had around 45 houses and 226 Albanian residents. On 28 March the residents were expelled and mainly took refuge in Përlepnicë and Gjilan. Eighteen Albanian houses and other buildings were burned during the war.
