Pidiq lies about 17–18 km south of Gjilan. West of the village is the locality known as Kalaja, while pottery, roof tiles, house walls and old burial grounds have been found elsewhere. At Vrellë, local tradition preserves the memory of an early church.
The settlement has not been clearly identified in known medieval documents; a 19th-century note mentions Xhami Karadaku with 50 Albanian houses on the Zhegër-Dunav route. In 1956 several families migrated to Turkey.
In 1999 Pidiq had around 31 houses and 250 Albanian residents. The population was deported to North Macedonia; four houses, two barns and the school building were burned during the war.
