Nishor lies about 11 km northwest of Theranda and is a dispersed hill-and-mountain settlement. Archaeological traces connect the area with an early inhabited landscape extending toward neighbouring Kasterc.
Medieval documentation records the form Vinishor in a charter from 1313–1318. An Ottoman register from 1485 mentions Noshal with 13 households, while a 1591 register records Noqshor with nine. These forms show the continuity of the place-name across different historical periods.
In 1998–99 the village had around 178 houses, including the Breshanc neighbourhood, and approximately 1,500 Albanian residents. Serbian attacks burned or destroyed almost every house; only 11 escaped. A large part of the population was held in Bellanicë in the municipality of Malishevë and on 30 March 1999 was deported to Albania.
