Settlement

Nasalë

Municipality Gjilan

Nasalë lies about 9–10 km south of Gjilan, at the foot of the Karadak mountains and near the Morava River. At Starasellë, bricks, roof tiles, wells and other settlement traces have been found; material associated with early prehistoric and ancient occupation is also recorded.

A 1455 register records 10 households, while the 1566–74 register lists 25. An Austrian map from 1689 records the name Nosail. After 1878 Albanian muhajir families settled here, while 11 Serbian colonist families were established in 1922.

In 1999 the village had 30 Albanian houses and around 220 residents. On 1 April the population was expelled and, after several days, crossed into North Macedonia.
