Leshtari is in the municipality of Kamenica. A historical document from 1441 mentions the settlement under the form Leshtije. A historical document from 1494 mentions the settlement.
An Ottoman register from 1566 documents the settlement under the form Leshofc with 2 households and 1 unmarried man. A later register from 1893 documents the settlement under the form Leshtat. For 1998–99, the source documents expulsion and burning by Serbian forces.
