Lekaj (Rakinica) is in the municipality of Skenderaj. A historical document from 1330 mentions the settlement. A historical document from 1365 mentions the settlement under the form Rakita.
An Ottoman register from 1566 documents the settlement under the form Raktenica with 21 households and 7 unmarried men. A later register from 1893 documents the settlement under the form Rakinica. Archaeological traces mentioned in the study include older burial grounds. Historical sources also record the settlement under the form Rukanica.
