Municipality Skenderaj

Kopiliqi i Epërm is in the municipality of Skenderaj. An Ottoman register from 1455 documents the settlement under the form Gornji Kopiliq with 37 households and 3 unmarried men. A later register from 1566 documents the settlement with 16 households and 5 unmarried men.

The register from 1893 documents the settlement under the form Kopiliq-i Bala. Archaeological traces mentioned in the study include building foundations and fortification remains. The source records burning connected with a documented historical conflict. The source records migration of residents to Turkey.
