Herrtica

Municipality Podujeva

Herrtica is in the municipality of Podujeva. An Ottoman register from 1455 documents the settlement under the form Haranca with 15 households. A later register from 1530 documents the settlement under the form Hirtiçe.

The register from 1893 documents the settlement under the form Hartiçe. Archaeological traces mentioned in the study include fortification remains. In 1877–78, Albanian muhajir families expelled from the Sanjak of Niš settled there; the source records that they later moved away.
