Grykosi (Grejkoci) lies about 11 km south of Theranda, at the foot of mountain hills, and is partly dispersed. During ploughing in 1984, a large Roman-period pithos was discovered. Foundations of an old church were also visible near the mosque, showing that the area had been inhabited long before the period preserved in modern family memory.
The settlement is mentioned in the memorial book of the Monastery of the Holy Trinity from the 15th century and appears on an Austrian map from 1689 as Krajkovce. Between 1912 and 1958 several Albanian families left for Albania under pressure from the Serbian and Yugoslav authorities. During the interwar period 11 colonist families from Montenegro and Serbia were settled here.
Before the 1998–99 war the village had around 300 houses and approximately 3,150 Albanian residents. Serbian attacks destroyed 187 houses, the school, the clinic and the mosque minaret. Most of the population was expelled to Albania on 3 April 1999.
