Gelanca is in the municipality of Suhareka. A historical document from 1348 mentions the settlement. A historical document from 1689 mentions the settlement.

An Ottoman register from 1893 documents the settlement under the form Glançe. For 1998–99, the source documents expulsion. Archaeological traces mentioned in the study include older burial grounds.
