Firza

Municipality Gjakova

Firza is in the municipality of Gjakova. An Ottoman register from 1571 documents the settlement with 19 households. A later register from 1591 documents the settlement with 28 households and 7 unmarried men.

A historical document from 1842 mentions the settlement under the form Fierza. The register from 1893 documents the settlement under the form Firza. The source records burning connected with a documented historical conflict. Historical sources also record the settlement under the form Fiers.
