Drenaj (Drenoci) lies about 5 km northwest of Rahovec. It is a compact settlement. Its elevation is about 552 metres above sea level. Archaeological traces in the settlement area include old burial grounds, pointing to earlier phases of habitation. The finds are associated with Roman periods.
Written records trace the settlement at least to 1348, with further references in 1454, 1530. Historical forms of the name recorded in documents include Dranofc, Drenofc. A register from 1530 records 15 households. Around 1879, the settlement formed part of the Bajrak of Palluzhës and had 61 households. In 1919, 7 people were killed during violence affecting the settlement.
During the 1998–1999 war, the settlement suffered burning and destruction by Serbian forces. 18 residents were killed during the war. Residents were forced to leave the village during the offensives.
