Municipality Skenderaj

Buroja is in the municipality of Skenderaj. An Ottoman register from 1485 documents the settlement under the form Brebat with 8 households and 2 unmarried men. A later register from 1566 documents the settlement under the form Brajnofc with 13 households and 4 unmarried men.

For 1998–99, the source documents destruction by Serbian forces, killings, and burning by Serbian forces. Historical notes mention a mosque in the settlement. The source records burning connected with a documented historical conflict.
