Brestosi (Brestoci) lies within the municipality of Rahovec. It is a compact settlement. Its elevation is about 368 metres above sea level. Archaeological traces in the settlement area include old burial grounds, pointing to earlier phases of habitation.
Written records trace the settlement at least to 1330, with further references in 1397, 1485. A register from 1330 records 2 households. During the interwar period, 2 Slavic colonist or optant families were settled here. The 20th century also brought emigration of some residents to Turkey.
During the 1998–1999 war, the settlement suffered burning and destruction by Serbian forces. Residents were forced to leave the village during the offensives.
