Belaj (Belinca) is in the municipality of Shtime. An Ottoman register from 1311 documents the settlement. A later register from 1455 documents the settlement with 32 households and 2 unmarried men.
The register from 1566 documents the settlement under the form Belençi with 16 households and 10 unmarried men. The register from 1893 documents the settlement. Archaeological traces mentioned in the study include older burial grounds.
