A small lake in the Junik Mountains

Heart-Shaped Lake, known in Albanian as Liqeni i Zemrës, lies high in the Junik Mountains within the Accursed Mountains landscape. Junik’s municipal development plan lists it among the municipality’s important hydrographic landscapes, while mapped geographic data places the lake close to Kosovo’s western border with Albania.

The landscape is the destination

The lake is modest in scale, and its recognisable heart-like outline is best understood together with the surrounding ridges, mountain basins and other alpine waters. This is a specialist hiking destination rather than a roadside viewpoint or developed visitor attraction.
