Haraqia Inn

An inn beside the old bazaar

Haraqia Inn, known locally as Hani i Haraqisë, stands near Hadum Mosque in Gjakova’s historic market quarter. Kosovo’s Cultural Heritage Database identifies it as a protected Ottoman-period ensemble and dates it to the 17th century.

A place built for trade and travel

Inns and caravanserais gave merchants and other travellers somewhere to eat, sleep and leave the animals used for transport. Historical accounts recorded Haraqia Inn in the 1830s, reflecting Gjakova’s importance as a regional trading centre. The surviving complex includes older and newer sections with substantial timber construction and traditional interior decoration.

See it as part of Gjakova’s old core

Include the inn on a walk through the Grand Bazaar, together with Hadum Mosque and the surrounding craft streets. It remains a living building rather than a conventional museum, so current interior access may vary. Respect on-site activity and appreciate the exterior and urban setting when entry is not available.
