Brod & Brod Mountains

Natural attractionDragash

Brod is a traditional mountain village in the Dragash area, where stone-built neighbourhoods, a river valley and the surrounding Sharr highlands form one distinctive landscape.

A village within the mountains

Brod lies in the Gora area of Dragash municipality, where the village and the surrounding mountains are best understood together. The settlement follows a river valley beneath the Sharr highlands, giving visitors a close view of the transition from inhabited slopes and pasture landscapes to the wider mountain terrain.

Traditional character

Kosovo’s Sharr National Park spatial plan identifies Brod as one of Gora’s principal villages and records traditional buildings from the Ottoman period, including stone houses beside the river. That built fabric and the community’s living cultural traditions distinguish Brod from the broader Sharr Mountains page: this is a village landscape, not a summary of the entire protected range.

Visit with local awareness

Allow time to notice the relationship between the river, compact neighbourhoods and the slopes above rather than treating Brod only as a departure point. It remains a lived-in community, so respect homes, working land and religious or cultural spaces. Mountain conditions can change quickly; use current local information and suitable preparation before going beyond the settled area.
