Varigoc lies about 12 km west of Lipjan, in a valley of Blinaja. Large old graves without symbols survive in the village, and local tradition places them before the arrival of the present families. Local memory also recalls a powerful spring near an earlier settlement site.
Kosovo Vilayet yearbooks from 1893, 1896 and 1900 record the form Varigofca. In 1912 the Serbian authorities burned several houses and killed a father and his two sons on the night of Bajram. During the 20th century many residents moved to Prishtina, Lipjan, Shtime and Ferizaj.
In 1999 Varigoc had 27 houses and around 240 Albanian residents. During the war the settlement became a KLA supply and mobilisation centre, and a military hospital also operated in the area. More than 10,000 refugees sheltered in the village and surrounding mountains; eight refugees from other settlements were killed there.
