Uglar lies in the southeastern part of the Fushë Kosovë area. The source notes archaeological traces linking the locality with early phases of habitation.
In written records, the source traces the settlement at least to 1424, with further references in 1455, 1566–1574. One of the cited registers for 1455 records 30 households; more granular demographic details are intentionally omitted here. Following the expulsions of Albanians in 1877–1878, the source records the arrival of Albanian muhajir families from Toplica and the wider Sanjak of Niš.
