Sopoti (Soponica)

Municipality Kacanik

Sopoti (Soponica) is in the municipality of Kacanik. A historical document from 1361 mentions the settlement. An Ottoman register from 1452 documents the settlement under the form Sopotnica Epërme.

A later register from 1468 documents the settlement under the form Soptica with 26 households. The register from 1893 documents the settlement. For 1998–99, the source documents expulsion. Archaeological traces mentioned in the study include older burial grounds.
