Rufc I Ri lies about 5 km west of Lipjan, on lowland terrain. It is a relatively recent settlement, established from 1921 as a colony on land that had previously belonged to surrounding Albanian villages. Between 1921 and 1928, 40 Serbian, Slovenian and one German colonist families, totalling 201 people, were settled here.
After the 1950s many colonists sold their land and moved toward urban centres. During the same period Albanian families from Drenica, Anamorava and other parts of Kosovo began settling in Rufc I Ri, gradually changing the village's composition.
In 1999 there were around 100 Albanian families with approximately 800 residents and eight Serbian families. In the consequences of the war, seven Serbian houses and three Albanian houses were burned; one person died in a fire. From 19 to 26 April the population sheltered in Kroibardh (Dobrajë e Madhe).
