Resnik is a settlement historically associated with the Klina area. It has a compact settlement pattern. Recorded traces around the settlement include roof tiles, bricks, building foundations, bridge remains, evidence of earlier habitation and use of the area.
The settlement appears in written records from 1330, with further references in 1455, 1893. A register from 1455 records 30 households. The 20th century also brought emigration of residents to Albania. During the interwar period, around 1932, 52 Serbian or Montenegrin colonist families were settled here.
During the 1998–1999 war, Serbian forces caused burning and destruction, the killing of 9 residents, the expulsion or displacement of residents.
