Qupevë lies about 12 km south of Klina. It has a compact settlement pattern. The terrain is hilly. Recorded traces around the settlement include roof tiles, bricks, old burial grounds, bridge remains, evidence of earlier habitation and use of the area.
Some of these traces are associated with the prehistoric period. The settlement appears in written records from 1485, with further references in 1893, 1896. A register from 1485 records 4 households. The 20th century also brought emigration of residents to Albania.
During the interwar period, around 1936, 5 Serbian or Montenegrin colonist families were settled here. In 1919, the settlement suffered burning, looting or killings during actions by Serbian forces. During the 1998–1999 war, the settlement experienced burning and destruction, killings of residents, 3 people reported missing, the expulsion or displacement of residents.
