Nerodime e Poshtme lies roughly five kilometres west of Ferizaj, where the plain meets the lower slopes. Its archaeological importance is linked to a late-antique complex: excavations revealed parts of a substantial building, mosaic floors, painted surfaces and rooms arranged around a basin and corridors. The remains point to a place that was connected to wider late Roman and early Byzantine life.
The locality also appears under earlier forms. Rodimlja is associated with medieval references, while Porodimlje and Nerodimlja occur in documentary traditions connected with the region. Ottoman registers of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries continue that sequence. Together, the archaeological remains and written references make Nerodime e Poshtme more than a village on the edge of Ferizaj: it is a place where Kosovo’s ancient, medieval and Ottoman layers meet in a small area.
Its location near Ferizaj makes this continuity especially easy to overlook. Yet the evidence from the site gives a local scale to wider historical change, from late antiquity through the documentary worlds that followed it.
