Mazgovë, treated in the volume as Muzgova, lies about 13 km north of Gjilan and is a compact hilly settlement divided into neighbourhoods.
Written records mention the settlement in the 1498 Ottoman register of the Novo Brdo district, which lists two household heads and the Monastery of St Nicholas. The 1566–74 register records six households. Late-19th-century yearbooks preserve the forms Mezgova and Murgova.
The settlement remained small during the 20th century; the Serbian 1991 census recorded around 100 Serbian residents. Today Mazgovë belongs to the municipality of Artana/Novo Brdo, although the 2004 source treats it within the historical Gjilan administrative area.
