Maralia is in the municipality of Malisheva. An Ottoman register from 1893 documents the settlement under the form Maralia. Archaeological traces mentioned in the study include pottery and tile fragments and an inscription.

Historical notes mention a mosque in the settlement. The source records migration of residents to Turkey.
