A historical document from 1447 mentions the settlement. An Ottoman register from 1530 documents the settlement under the form Llokvica. A later register from 1571 documents the settlement under the form Lokvica.

The register from 1893 documents the settlement under the form Likovicë. The source records migration of residents to Turkey.
