Kufcë e Epërme, treated in the volume as Kufca (Kufca e Epërme), lies about 4 km north of Gjilan and is a compact settlement. At the locality known as Varrezat Turke, human remains were encountered during agricultural work, while pottery fragments have also been found in the area.
Kosovo Vilayet yearbooks from 1896 and 1900 record the forms Kofce-i Bala and Kufqa-i Bala. After the expulsion of Albanians from the Sanjak of Niš in 1877–78, muhajir families settled at Kosaça and Stublla.
Today the settlement belongs to the municipality of Artana/Novo Brdo, while the 2004 source preserves it within the historical Gjilan administrative context.
