Settlement

Krojasi (Gllavica)

Municipality Lipjan

Krojasi (Gllavica) lies about 7–8 km southeast of Lipjan, on a hill, and is a compact settlement. It was established in 1878 by Albanian muhajirs expelled from the Sanjak of Niš. At the time, the locality is described as woodland and scrub, which the new residents cleared for farming and settlement.

For many years Krojasi was counted as a neighbourhood of Gadime, a status reflected in the 1913 registration; it was later treated as a neighbourhood of Marec. In 1957 several families migrated to Turkey, Prishtina, Ferizaj and Rufc.

In the spring of 1999 Serbian forces burned 20 houses and other economic and auxiliary buildings. One woman was killed, while a disabled man died after mistreatment by Serbian forces.
