Gushtericë e Epërme, now in the municipality of Graçanica, is treated in the historical Lipjan volume as a settlement at the foot of the Zhegoc mountains, about 9 km northeast of Lipjan. It is a compact settlement with early medieval documentation.
The village is mentioned in the Graçanica charter of 1314–1316 and in records associated with Stefan Dušan around 1331. A 1455 register records it as Gorna Gushteriça with 47 households, while the 1498 register of the Kaza of Novobërda lists Gushterica with 27 household heads. The name continues on the Austrian map of 1689 and in later Ottoman records.
Field data collected in 1999–2002 recorded 577 Serbian residents in the settlement.
