Gushterica e Poshtme, now in the municipality of Graçanica, preserves a history reaching back to antiquity. Inscriptions and ruins of a Roman-period settlement have been found in the area; one inscription discussed in the literature is associated with the ancient station Statio Herculana. These finds place the locality within an important Roman-era network of settlement and communication.
A register from 1455 mentions the village as Dolina Gushteriça with 53 households. Later Ottoman records, an Austrian map based on information from 1689, and late-19th-century yearbooks preserve different forms of the name, including Goshteriçe-i Zir.
The 2003 volume treats the settlement within historical Lypjan. Today the official identity Gushtericë e Ulët and the current municipal relationship belong to Graçanica, while ViewKosova preserves the historical public title Gushterica e Poshtme.
