Dranashiq lies about 7 km north of Klina. Local tradition and historical documentation refer to an old church and a plague-era burial ground, while the settlement appears in the Kosovo Vilayet yearbooks of 1893, 1896 and 1900.
During the interwar period, the colonisation policy brought 29 Serbian and Montenegrin colonist families to the settlement, mainly in the Fusha e Gjonë locality. Twentieth-century records show a mixed population and continuing movement of families through the area.
By the late 1990s, Serbian, Ashkali and Albanian families were living in Dranashiq. During the war, two Albanian houses were destroyed; Serbian houses were also destroyed later. These developments record the direct effects of the conflict on a small settlement with a mixed social composition.
