Deiq lies about 3 km from Klina. Recorded traces around the settlement include pottery fragments, roof tiles, bricks, building foundations, old burial grounds, evidence of earlier habitation and use of the area.
The settlement appears in written records from 1348, with further references in 1485, 1776. A register from 1485 records 9 households. The 20th century also brought emigration of residents to Croatia. During the interwar period, 14 Serbian or Montenegrin colonist families were settled here.
In 1919, the settlement suffered burning, looting or killings during actions by Serbian forces. The 1998–1999 war had direct consequences for the settlement and its residents.
