Bungeti (Bukovica) lies in the Zhegoc mountains about 16 km east of Lipjan, near Janjevë, and is a hilly and mountainous settlement. Southeast of the village, at Cerkvina, traces of a church survive, while nearby higher ground preserves building foundations that point to an earlier phase of habitation.
A register of the Kaza of Novobërda from 1498 mentions a settlement under the form Bojkofça, while yearbooks from 1893, 1896 and 1900 preserve the forms Bukofça and Bukovica. After the expulsion of Albanians from the Sanjak of Niš in 1877–78, muhajir families also settled in the area.
In 1999 the village had 12 houses and 53 Albanian residents. During the war two people connected with the village were killed, one local resident and one son-in-law from Gjilan.
