Settlement

Budrika e Poshtme

Municipality Partesh

Budrika e Poshtme lies about 6 km southwest of Gjilan and is a compact lowland settlement. Archaeological evidence points to very early habitation in the area, while the form Budrizi appears in a document from 1393.

After the expulsion of Albanians from the Sanjak of Niš in 1878, the muhajir Bublica family settled here. After 1912 Albanian families gradually left the settlement; in 1913 several muhajir families moved to Turkey.

Today the settlement belongs to the municipality of Partesh, although the 2004 volume treats it within the then-existing Gjilan municipal area. That administrative change forms part of the settlement's modern identity history.
