Bubaveci is in the municipality of Malisheva. A historical document from 1314 mentions the settlement under the form Bobojevci. An Ottoman register from 1485 documents the settlement with 30 households and 15 unmarried men.

A historical document from 1766 mentions the settlement. A historical document from 1892 mentions the settlement. Archaeological traces mentioned in the study include pottery and tile fragments. The source records migration of residents to Turkey. Historical sources also record the settlement under the form Babovci.
