Brus lies northeast of Lipjan and is a dispersed hill-and-mountain settlement. House foundations, bricks and roof tiles have been found at Livadhi i Popit and Gurra e Hajdukut, while a hill between Guri i Zi and Bukavishta is known as Kalaja and preserves traces associated with an old fortification.
The locality is mentioned in the Graçanica charter of 1314–1316. A register of the Kaza of Novobërda from 1498 records Brus with 19 household heads. The population history includes repeated movement within the region and the arrival of families from neighbouring settlements.
In 1999 the village had 52 houses and 368 Albanian residents. Brus escaped the extensive destruction suffered by many settlements during the war, although on 15 April 1999 part of the population left and sheltered in nearby villages.
