A via ferrata is a fixed climbing route using steel cable, rungs and anchors. Via Ferrata Rugova brings that type of experience to the limestone walls around the Rugova Gorge near Peja. It is an adventure activity, not an ordinary hiking trail, and the setting can involve height, exposure and changing mountain weather.
The Rugova setting
Peja’s tourism organisation identifies several via ferrata routes in the gorge; the first was developed there in 2010. The routes are part of a wider outdoor landscape that also includes the gorge, rock climbing, mountain roads and the Rugova valley. Choose the route and difficulty only with current information from a competent operator or guide.
