Tailors’ Bridge
Tailors’ Bridge, or Ura e Terziut, is a protected eleven-arched bridge over the Erenik near Bishtazhin, built by Gjakova’s tailors’ guild on the old Prizren route.
A guild bridge on the Gjakova–Prizren route
Tailors’ Bridge, known locally as Ura e Terziut, stands near Bishtazhin about seven kilometres along the road from Gjakova towards Prizren. It crosses the Erenik outside the city and must not be confused with Ura e Tabakëve on Gjakova’s southern edge.
Eleven arches built for a trading corridor
Kosovo’s Cultural Heritage Database dates the protected bridge to the 18th century and attributes its construction to Gjakova’s tailors’ guild. Built from local stone, its approximately 193-metre length is carried by eleven arches of different sizes with smaller relief openings between them. The scale reflects the economic importance of the route linking markets across the Ottoman provinces.

Its length and sequence of arches are best appreciated from the surrounding riverbank rather than in a quick roadside glance. Treat it as a focused heritage stop on a wider Gjakova itinerary. Use safe approaches, stay away from unstable edges or high water, and avoid climbing on vulnerable stonework.
