Arriving by air
Pristina International Airport “Adem Jashari” is Kosovo’s main air gateway. For flights, check-in and day-of-travel notices, use the airport website and your airline. The airport is near Prishtina; arrange your onward transfer in advance if you arrive late.
Entry and borders
Requirements depend on nationality. Carry a valid travel document and check whether a visa or residence permit is required. For short stays, Ministry of Internal Affairs guidance states up to 90 days in any 180-day period where permitted. Always check the current rules before departure.
Driving
Drive on the right. Carry your licence, vehicle documents and valid insurance. If you arrive with foreign plates or a rental car, confirm insurance cover and border-crossing permissions with your provider before travel. Main roads connect larger centres; mountain roads need more time and extra care in winter conditions.
Buses, taxis and city travel
Buses are the main public-transport option between cities. Timetables can change, so confirm at the station or with the operator before you travel. In cities, walking is often practical in central areas; use urban buses or licensed taxis for longer trips. Agree a fare or ask for the meter before setting off where possible.
Maps and navigation
Save offline maps before travelling into mountain areas, and use the ViewKosova map to find documented places. Travel times can change with weather, roadworks and border conditions.
